Privacy policy.
What we collect
When you book: your name, email, phone number, driver's license number (and its issuing state and expiration date, and your date of birth, when we ask for them), rental dates, and a delivery address if you choose delivery.
Before pickup: a photo of your driver's license, your signature on the rental agreement, and the time, IP address and browser you signed from — kept as the record of the agreement.
During a rental: photos of the equipment's condition at pickup and return, and any proof of insurance you upload.
If you text or email us: your messages and our replies.
When you fill out a form (vehicle owners, rideshare applications, waitlists, contact): the details you type in, such as your name, contact info, ZIP code and vehicle information.
How you found us: when you first land on the site, your browser stores where you came from (for example an ad campaign tag, a Google or Meta click ID, or the referring website) and the page you landed on. It's sent to us only if you book or submit a form. See Advertising measurement below for what Meta receives.
Payments
Card payments and deposit holds are processed by Stripe. Your full card number goes directly to Stripe — we never see or store it. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to what it processes.
Bank data (Plaid)
We use Plaid to connect only the business's own bank and card accounts — the accounts of Pink Skunk Rentals and its owner — to our bookkeeping tools. Renters and customers are never asked to connect a bank account.
With the owner's permission, Plaid shares read-only data about those accounts: account names and types, the last 4 digits of the account number, balances, and transactions (date, amount, merchant and description). We do not receive bank login credentials or full account or routing numbers, and we cannot move money through Plaid.
We use this data only to keep the business's books — categorizing income and expenses, matching card payouts, and preparing tax records. It is visible only to the owner. Plaid's access token is encrypted, and all data is stored encrypted at rest. Disconnecting an account revokes our access through Plaid; transactions already imported are kept with the business's tax records (see How long we keep it).
Plaid's handling of this data is described in Plaid's End User Privacy Policy at plaid.com/legal.
Advertising measurement (Meta)
We use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API to see whether our Facebook and Instagram ads bring in vehicle owners. On our public pages, Meta receives the page you viewed, your browser and IP address, and Meta's own browser and ad-click ids. If you submit the vehicle-owner form, Meta also receives your email and phone number in hashed (scrambled) form so it can match the form to an ad click. We don't send names, booking details, or anything from booking, payment, agreement or account pages.
Meta's use of this data is covered by Meta's own privacy policy. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, or you opt out below, we send Meta nothing about you.
How we use it
To run your rental: confirming bookings, verifying who's picking up, holding and releasing deposits, sending your booking portal and receipts, and resolving damage or late returns.
To follow up on forms you submit, and to understand which ads and pages bring in customers.
We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Only the services that help us run the business: Stripe (payments), Plaid (the business's own bank data, above), Meta (ad measurement, above, unless you opt out), our email and texting providers, and our hosting and database providers. If we check a driving record or insurance, it's only with your separate written consent and through the screening or insurance-verification provider named in that consent. We may also share information when required by law or to pursue a damaged or unreturned rental.
How long we keep it
Bookings, invoices, payments and signed agreements: 7 years after the rental, for tax and business records.
Driver's license details and license photos: until your rental and any damage claim or dispute is closed. After that, we delete them on request or at our annual review.
Driving-record check results: a summary stays with the booking; the full report is deleted when it's no longer needed for a dispute.
Messages: 3 years. Inquiries that didn't become rentals: 2 years.
The business's own bank and card transactions: 7 years after the tax year.
We review what we keep at least once a year and delete what's past these periods.
Your choices
You can ask what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email or call us using the contact details below. We'll confirm it's you (usually by replying from the email or phone number on your booking) and complete the request within 30 days.
When we delete your information, we remove your license details and photos, date of birth, addresses, notes, message contents and any driving-record report, and replace your name and contact details. We keep only what the law or an open matter requires — payment amounts and dates, the signed agreement record, and your choice to stop receiving texts. We can't erase while a rental is still open or unpaid.
You can also clear your browser's site data at any time to remove the stored first-visit source.
